    There are six categories at the Belgian Sponsorship Awards 2017, plus the Award "Best of Belgium". Below is the list of winners and runner-ups.

    BEST OF BELGIUM 2017

    Winner : Continental – Continental Cycling Heroes

    Continental wanted to use cycling as there was a product and consumer overlap between their car and bicycle tyres. Research showed that the appealing demographic of recreational bikers needed to be aware of, and be convinced by, the equal quality of Continental car and bike tires. In a saturated market, Continental had to create an outstanding and unique experience. The solution was a new recreational rides tour on legendary routes in the presence of World Champions and Olympic Gold medallists.

    BEST EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AWARD

    Winner : Unilin (Quick-Step) – Thank You Tom

    This was a giant tifo consisting of 500 movable panels (made of Quick-Step flooring) to honour Tom Boonen’s last Tour of Flanders. The action had been conceived from an open call to employees. The main objectives were to support employer branding in Belgium and to support the Quick-Step brand attribution in the main cycling countries. As well as attracting new employees, Unilin wanted a fun experience reflecting corporate values of passion, excellence, entrepreneurship and respect.

    BEST SOCIETAL SPONSORSHIP AWARD

    Winner : Engie – Power2Act

    Power2Act is an internal program and a key part of the company’s CSR platform. Engie supports initiatives which employees commit to in their own free time, and in voluntary work for projects that are supported by Engie. Facebook amplified the reach alongside traditional media and the programme will be launched in the Netherlands in 2018.

    BEST SPONSORSHIP ACTIVATION AWARD

    BEST ENTERTAINMENT SPONSORSHIP AWARD

    Winner : ING – Oscar & The Wolf

    ING saw a growing need to highlight the personal connection with its clients and provide real-life added value for using its digital channels. Music was selected as the best way to connect with people and ING leveraged its long-lasting sponsorships with Palais 12 & Universal Music. ING was able to create its own branded experience by offering a unique concert of Oscar And The Wolf, solely for ING’s Smart Banking app users. This illustrates how entertainment sponsorship can add value and personality to customer touch points in the digital space.

    SPONSORIUM AWARD FOR BEST SPORT SPONSORSHIP

    Winner : Telenet – Cyclocross

    Telenet have made themselves a big part of the whole cyclocross world using event and team sponsorship, some creative activations such as yellow boots and ponchos, and through social media and advertising. These actions have evolved from a classic logo sponsorship and are now fully leveraged to support Telenet brands such as Play Sports and to engage customers.

    RIGHTSHOLDER OF THE YEAR

    Winner : KV Oostende – Maes Pils Elindus Van Honsebrouck

    KV Oostende’s commercial management has a formal servicing process for sponsors that first takes account of individual objectives, and then works systematically to deliver benefits and to report on ROI. The club encourages creative activations from sponsors, and organise their own internal sponsorship awards (named after main sponsor Luc Willems) to encourage excellence in sponsorship.
